The Water Signs

Cancer: is Cardinal Water. In the Zodiac, it follows the air sign, Gemini.  Gemini is like a toddler whose attention can be easily distracted, flitting from thing to thing. Cancer is like a toddler who grabs on to something, won’t let go, and throws a tantrum when mommy or daddy tries to take it away. And the Cancer mood swings are legendary.

Let me give you a few tips about dealing with those who have the sign of Cancer strong in their horoscopes.How do you tell if a sign is “strong” ?

If the person has the Sun, Moon, or Ascendant (also called the Rising Sign) there. In this case, you can include those who have the Moon within six degrees of the Ascendant as well.

Cancer wants what it can’t have. As soon as it gets something, it forgets about it.

A friend of mine told me that she used to go out with a Cancer man. “He kept asking me if I loved him, but I don’t like to rush into things”, she said. “When I finally told him I loved him, he left suddenly and I never saw him again!”.

The way around disasters like this is to keep the game going. Keep them guessing forever. A client told me that her Cancer Sun-Sign boyfriend had canceled several dates recently. “He says he had a hard day at work and he’s too tired to come over, and he’s doing it more and more”, she complained. I told her what to do. The next day, she called me to say that it worked. “The phone rang at 9 P.M. and I didn’t answer it”, she said. “Did it ring at Exactly 9 P. M.” I asked. “Yes”. Good. It was him. “Then it rang at 9:30, and I still didn’t answer it”. Exactly at 9:30? Yes. So predictable. “Then it rang at 10 P.M., I picked it up and said “Hello”. What did he say? “He said “where were you?’ No hello. Just ‘Where were you?’” He was over there in another half hour and spent the night. Like I say, Cancer can’t stand to loose anything.

Never, ever, give a Cancer a straight compliment. If you tell them that they look good, they will think that something is wrong, or that you’re trying to set them up for something. You have to tell them that they are looking “less bad today” and then ask them if they are trying to break a lifetime trend. Watch them smile.

Cancer men are known for needling the women in their lives until they blow up. They want to “get mommy mad”. If you are involved with one, just be a “tough moma” who’s trying to help them get their life in order. Correct them constantly. If they ask you if you love them, use one of the following lines:

(1) “I’ll think about it”. If they press you for an answer, say “For goodness sake, you know how busy I am. I’m taking time out of my busy schedule to think about whether I love you or not. I think that says something. But some people are just never satisfied!”

(2)  Say “Of course I do, uh..uhh…” and pretend that you forgot their name. Then say “Well what’s in a name anyway. Whatever your name is, I love you.”

(3) Tell them flat out that you have “Better taste than that”.

(4) If you want to tell them that you love them, shake your head, sigh, and say “I don’t know why I put up with you”.

On the positive side, (yes, there is a positive side) the house with the sign of Cancer on the cusp (beginning) shows one of the places in or lives where we can be loving and nurturing, protecting the helpless (including animals). On the negative side, it can show where we can be moody and irrationally greedy. This is the area of our lives where, if we can’t get our way, we tend to retreat into a fantasy world where things are just the way we want them to be.

The other area of our lives where we can act like this is shown by the house occupied by the ruler of the sign of Cancer, the Moon.

Scorpio: is Fixed Water. This is the sign of Extremes, all or nothing. It follows the air sign Libra, sign of balance. To understand Scorpio, read the novels of Dostoyevsky, who was a Scorpio Sun-Sign, and examine the characters closely.

The house that has Scorpio at the cusp (beginning) is one of the places in your life where you tend to posses Intensity and Power as well as where you may be driven by compulsive “subconscious forces”. The other is the house that Pluto, ruler of Scorpio, occupies. According to the late Marc Edmund Jones, this is where we have “…the greatest potentials for actual good or evil…”.

All of the fixed signs tend to be stubborn and unyielding. Taurus is that way out of sheer inertia. Like a large boulder, once it starts moving, it simply can’t stop. Leo stands firm out of pride. Aquarius, an air sign, refuses to budge without a logical reason. With Scorpio, it is pure emotional intensity, the kind that can rise up when one is involved in a fight to the death.

Scorpio is also the sign of Secrets. This sign is the best natural born detective in the zodiac. If you want to know the dirt about someone, find a Scorpio Sun-Sign person who knows them. Actually, any strong emphasis on Scorpio will do. But don’t ever expect them to tell you their secrets.

Bobby Fischer, the chess champion, has Scorpio on the cusp (beginning) of his 5th House (romance, creativity, sports, and Games). Pluto, the ruling planet of Scorpio, is in his 1st House (self). He was totally possessed by his passion for the game. Bill Gates also has Scorpio on the cusp of his 5th House. But Pluto, the ruler, is in his 2nd House (money) showing that the creative drive is channeled more directly into financial areas, and that there is an obsession to accumulate wealth as well as to create. The motto he chose for his company is “Microsoft Everywhere”.

Pisces: is Mutuable Water. I think of Pisces as the most agreeable sign in the zodiac. People with a strong Pisces emphasis in their horoscopes seem to agree with almost anyone.

If, a few minutes later, they happen to talk to someone with the opposite opinion, they will agree with them too. Then, they go off and something completely different from both. Deep down inside, Pisces doesn’t want to upset people. In fact, if you complain to a Pisces about trouble you are having with someone they don’t even know, they will start making excuses for that other person. They feel compassion for someone they never met.

Let me emphasize again that this refers only to the influence of this one sign. When doing a horoscope, you have to take the entire chart into account, and there are a myriad of other factors to consider besides the Sun-Sign. Richard Ramirez and John Wayne Gacy, both infamous serial killers were Pisces Sun-Signs, and they showed little compassion for their victims.

The House with Pisces on the cusp (beginning) will be one of the places in your horoscope where you can be your most tolerant and compassionate, as well as your most imaginative. It can also show where you can be self-destructive and refuse to deal with reality. The other place to watch for these things is the house where your planet Neptune is located.
